Goal

Measure the directional wave spectrum within the experimental operation area. A TRIAXYS directional wave buoy will be moored within a 100-to-200 m radius of the site to be used by CSS to conduct SAS evaluations. These data will be used to evaluate the bistatic scattering properties of the sea surface, which can impact the performance of SAS sonar. A discussion of the computational method including issues pertaining to the directional wave spectrum is available in Ref. [1]. The wave data, and computations of bistatic scattering, can be made available to others in the SAX99 experimental team.
