Biosketch

Steve Kahle creates embedded devices and systems which are often deployed in harsh environments. Steve has been an active member of the IEEE developing inter-device communication standards. He has been awarded patents in fields as diverse as estimating state-of-charge for large lead-acid batteries and data caching strategies for improving computer performance. Steve has spent the last 20 years as the Principal Engineer responsible for driving ideas into production for companies with annual revenues up to $450M. His passion is in creating successful products and finding a way to apply technology to solve problems in the real world. Steve joined the Laboratory%u2019s Environmental and Information Systems Department in 2013 after consulting for the Lab for several years.
